CSI: Holiday Home
C.S.I. Case Studies & Ideologies
Installation: Holiday Home – An alternative space to enjoy holidays
Venue: The Institute of Contemporary Art, Philadephia
Designer: UN Studio
“… an experimental attempt to create a space liberated from the constrictive norms of modern design.”
“…formulated the basic structure, a warped sculptural form, by taking a typical house and expanding the wall areas and the gabled roof in six directions.”
“The Spartan (bare) look of the form helps to direct the viewer’s attention to the complex shape of the space.”
“Visitors who walk around and inside the installation discover surprising views, and the shadows cast in various directions create unexpected perspectives.”
“When the lighting conditions change the atmosphere of the space, the perception of time is lost. The perception of the passage of days or seasons are seemingly liberated from the confines of daily life and living space, becoming a different rhythm which is like the abstract feeling one senses when on vacation.”
“… offers an unconventional environment to enjoy holidays.”
